A Change in Muscle Mindset
I started lifting at 13 with my one brother and then later three of us would work out. Recently we were talking about how the mainstream still touts the same crap that my brother Sam(the one pictured on the right) figured out was nonsense at age 14. It’s not about formulas it’s about form. It’s not about reps it’s about repetition. It’s not about various muscles on certain days but a variety of exercise movement every day. It ’s not about our perceived effort, but instead the effort the body perceives it will need.(This is key. The body gives muscle ONLY because it believes it’s worth the HUGE calorie expenditure as requirement.) Most important, it’s not about showing up when it comes muscle. The muscles don’t really grow from just going to the gym. Maintenance sure, but the new growth happens from intensity and variety! It’s how you show up and how you use them that matters most with muscle. Use the people around you this week, the energy of your trainer, to bring that intensity!
